Queen Elizabeth and an ode to Land Rover

Prince Charles is famously fanatical about Astons and Bentley, William and Harry love their Audis but Queen Elizabeth II is a huge and loyal Land Rover fan. Here is a few pics to demonstrate the Royal family's devotion to the marque.

Her Majesty behind the wheel of her L322 Rangie at Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Note the dog bonnet ornament highlighting another of her passions.

Below: the Duke chilling in his Land Rover Freelander. I know, right? He can have any car in the world and he chooses Land Rover's answer to a Rav4.

Don't worry, Prince William makes up for it with the young Windsors' epic 2013 Range Rover Vogue.

Black is a tough colour to keep clean...

The Duchess of Cambridge AKA K_Middy driving around in the Rangie with Pippa 'P_Middy' Middleton.

Here's Wills and Kate in a Landrover Disco 3 or 4.

And below: proof that the House of Windsor's love affair with the Landy is a long and loyal one. Vintage Queen with vintage Land Rover.

Prince Charles in other classic Rangie. At first I thought it was the same as above but has the push out front quarter window and vinyl roof.

The Queen hangin' with her peeps and a second generation Range Rover.

This looks like a custom-built landaulet version of a first generation Range Rover.

Jay Leno's 1930 Bentley 27-litre

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3

My latest crush is the MB 300SEL 6.3. It was Merc's answer to a muscle car when it was released in 1968 at the Geneva Motor Show. It took the normal 6 cylinder S-Class and dropped the 6.3-litre engine out of the 600 Grosser limousine. The two-tonne beast could sit on over 200kmh with 5 passengers. Awesome considering that was the 60s. Here's a video of a 300SEL 6.3 on the track.

I think I'll need to update my dream garage to house both a 600 Grosser and a 300SEL 6.3.

Here's a gushing page about classic big Benzes including the Grosser 600 and my fantasy car collection.

2015 Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary Edition

This is the limited edition 50th Anniversary model. 1964 models will be created only and come in two colours, Wimbeldon white (pictured) or Kona Blue. It is fitted with a naturally aspirated V8 engine producing 420bhp. Wow. It is even more incredible when you consider these vehicles are a fraction of the cost (in the US) of their performance-related European rivals.

As an aside, I really like Ford America's marketing tagline for their Mustang range: "It's interesting how quickly want becomes need." I think that sums up the feeling for most. Check out the range here.

I say kid's bed but I'd happily drive this to sleep. Buy one on Etsy here.

BMW 9 Series Concept

I'll take two, thanks. This model pictured is The Exquisite Gran Lusso concept and BMW hopes to take lots of ideas from this and pack it into a new Rolls Royce Ghost/ Mercedes Mayback beating super limousine aimed at the emerging super minted Russians and Chinese. Maybe I should just take one of these coupes and then wait until the 9 Series is realised and buy one of those. His and Hers, perhaps?
