Can a van be cool?

I have to admit, I really love this van.

One of my favourites.

Did you know that just like the US, Australia is an excellent place to find top quality European classics? Our climate means many cars long forgotten about in other places are still cruising the highways Downunder although thanks to distances, costs and taxes they also come with eye-watering price-tags. The Classic Throttle Shop in Sydney, NSW is one of my favourite car yards of all time. The cars are all in mint, literally showroom condition. You could always find most of these cheaper by buying privately but they do offer after sale service; something you won't get privately. If you're every in Sydney definitely check it out, under the North side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. When I lived close by I would spend hours in there. Just another tyre-kicker!

US$6,000,000 Model Car

Find out why this model Lamborghini took 500 to build and will cost a buyer over US$6million. Just so you know, this would buy you at least 6 flagship Lambo road cars! Read on here.

A lot of money for a Hyundai.

Has anyone seen one of these in the flesh? In the marketing photos they look amazing but they seem a mix of parts (Merc grille, Lexus lights and tail) but I don't begrudge it for that. I think it looks like a fancy Nissan Maxima in general. Anyway, it costs US$58,000 and for those unfamiliar with the US car market, that is more than a Cadillac Sports Sedan (US$35,000) and Lincoln Navigator (US$57,000) but to put it into perspective, an S Class starts at US$91,000. Either way, it's a tough market for the Korean maker and there is some some stiff competition. I think the build quality should impress though because the Americans have embraced Toyota.

Let's start our engines!

Who doesn't slow down when they pass or a beautiful car, whether a car-buff or not, and whether the car is rare, expensive or just interesting? So often I won't just slow down and take a look around a car, I'll want to know more about it, I take photos and I'll research the car when I get home. This blog is all about sharing that motoring passion with like-minded petrol-heads, lead-foots, speed-freaks or just those who love being chauffeured. Some are obsessed with engines, while others love the lines, but cars have so much packed into them- thrift, excess, style, expertise, innovation and even art. You can send in pics, words or car-related links anytime to exhaustpipedreams@gmail.com

Happy motoring!
