Joe Frazer's Car Collection: The Hunter

A man after my own heart.

Next generation Subaru WRX

Finally the Japanese have managed to create a car that is fast AND not dog-ugly. And I don't say that lightly.

Here's the newest incarnation:

Here's the handsome and well-balanced original Rex. I remember being amazed when this came out. Suddenly everyone in Sydney was driving them, stealing them, driving them into designer shops front windows etc.

Their second attempt at a WRX. What were they thinking?

And the all-round bland-mobile that came later.

New 2013 Rolls Royce Wraith

Wow wow wow! This looks amazing. It's just a shame it's aimed at men who...ummm...either don't like women, don't like driving women, or just wouldn't let a woman slow them down. It's a peculiar advertisement.

Russian Ambulance Scam

So...apparently some corrupt ambulance officers along with some cash-rich/time-poor Ruskis have come up with a way to get around Russia's peak-hour gridlock. The wealthy are paying the ambulance drivers to drive them around, in the ambulance, with lights and sirens going. Un...be...liev...a..ble.

See how it happens here.

World's Ugliest Cars

Today the Telegraph lists the top 10 ugliest cars. I think they're being a bit mean too the Jeep and the BMW X6, particularly in this, the ugliest of company. Check out the gallery here.

I must admit though that the Aztec has a special place in the heart of any Breaking Bad fan. The old Aztec got Walter White out of many close shaves.

New MGB Frontline LE50

Singer Porsches and Eagle Jags got me thinking about the Frontline LE50 MGB. I caught an episode of 5th Gear recently where they road-tested a £49,500 new MGB GT using traditional body parts coupled with Mazda engine and running gear.

As proud former MGB owner it's lovely to see the MGBs getting lots of love, even if they're Japanese under the bonnet! The subtle body-kit under the bumper looks fantastic but the pressed-steel wheels do nothing for me. Each to their own.

Read more about the LE50 with the classic car oracle, Octane Magazine.

Just because this is a post about MGs, this was my little baby back in Oz:

Singer Porsche and more.

I was chatting to my mate Matthew Paul back in Oz the other day. I was waxing lyrical about the Scandi drama The Bridge and how he'd love the Porsche in it. Anyway he shot through this link to Singer, an outfit who specialise in the restoration and improvement of classic Porsches.

After doing some research, it seems I'm one of the few that aren't familiar with Singer so hopefully some will consider this news too!

Singer is based in Southern California which comes as no surprise to me. I couldn't believe just what an incredible obsession with classic car culture there is in sunny CA. Singer is to Porsche what Eagle is to Jaguar, if you recall from one of my many Jaguar-praising posts.

If you fancy a better than brand new E-Type, check out the Eagle version here.

Or watch Jeremy Clarkson drive it below:

Saga Noren, The Bridge and the Porsche 911

Tonight's post is about the unlikely star of a new crime drama 'The Bridge'.

The Bridge or "Bron/Broen" is a Danish/Swedish joint-production where both countries' police forces must join together to solve the murder of a woman halfway across the border of each country.

Saga Noren, real name Sofia Helin, is the lead character and a brilliantly thorough detective with comically poor people skills and social graces. You come to realise she has Asberger's Syndrome which goes a long way to explaining her character! But the real star of the show is her classic 911, which Saga Noren drives in every episode, fast! Susannah and I have just finished season 1 and we're champing at the bit for season 2! If you've seen The Killing (AKA Forbrydelsen) you'll like The Bridge.

I've clicked on a couple of forums and the guess is it's a 76/77 Porsche 911. I love the look without a big wing on the back. Watch the trailer for the show here:
